Tsarnaev on Trial
The long-awaited federal trial of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has begun. Following delays due to inclement weather, a lengthy jury selection process and multiple requests by the defense for a change of venue, 12 jurors and six alternates are hearing the case. Tsarnaev is accused of detonating twin pressure cooker bombs which killed three people and injured more than 250 at the Boston Marathon in 2013. He faces 30 charges including using a weapon of mass destruction. He is also charged with the murder of an MIT police officer. If convicted Tsarnaev could face the death penalty or life in prison.
