AUDIO: Dancer Connects to Heritage

LOWELL-Since she was 4 years old, Brianna Mai has danced with the Angkor Dance Troupe. Based in her hometown of Lowell, Mass., the troupe performs traditional Cambodian dances. Now 18 and a freshman at UMass-Lowell, Mai dances as a way of connecting with her heritage. It’s an opportunity that her mother, who grew up in Cambodia, never had.
